Audio Review on Cape Talk – Walking in Tuscany
What a special trip this was with a lovely group of ladies. This was a different women’s only small group tour to the normal i.e. hiking in the mountains (or mootins as our Italian guide pronounced it ). Did we get our exercise each day!
We arrived in Florence (Firenze), the capital of Tuscany and stayed at a charming hotel with easy access to all we wanted to see. The group split up, depending on what was on their list. We walked through the maze of cobbled streets, visiting museums, historical sites, a famous parfumerie and shopping with many stops for gelato.

The next day we caught a tram to meet our host, Jamie, who drove us to the farmhouse in the mountains. Jamie is the guide and his wife, Ailsa, a chef and nutritionist and prepared the most delicious and healthy meals for us. Breakfasts and dinners were served outside on the veranda, looking out onto a view that we never got tired of. The scenery at the farmhouse was stunning and each day we saw more spectacular views on our different routes in the mountains. Safa, the wire-haired terrier, Jamie and Manuel, our Italian guide, also accompanied us.
Cathy, who was on our trip, sent Sara-Jayne, on 567 Cape Talk, a message on our return.
“A few months ago you interviewed Mandy Salonika from The Adventurous Ewe’s women’s travel group. I was so impressed by what I heard in that interview, that I signed up to her Tuscany hiking tour. We have just returned from Florence and a week hiking in Tuscany. It was the most wonderful and perfect well organised trip, thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Thank you so much for having done that interview. Without it I would never have had this incredible opportunity to travel safely with a group of women.”
