Let’s travel to Turkey, a captivating country that straddles both Europe and Asia, offering a rich blend of cultures, history, and natural beauty. We will wander through vibrant bazaars and admire stunning architecture like the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, explore the unique rock formations of Cappadocia and Antalya on the coast.
Our tour would not be the same if I did not include a selection of culinary experiences, such as, local restaurants and wine tasting, all making Turkey a fascinating destination for any traveller.

ITINERARY
DAY 1
Welcome to Istanbul
Transport will be waiting at the airport to take us to our hotel which is situated in a neighbourhood rich in heritage and conveniently close to iconic sites.
Welcome Dinner: Tonight we eat a restaurant which prides itself on fresh seafood, offering panoramic vistas of the Marmara Sea, Bosphorus, Hagia Sophia, and Blue Mosque.

DAY 2
History & Culture in Istanbul’s Old City
This day is filled with Istanbul’s most historic and magnificent sites, within walking distance of each other in the Old City. Be prepared to be wowed and perhaps overwhelmed by the centuries of history revealed in this ancient city. We will see as many of the major sites as possible – Blue Mosque, The Roman Hippodrome, The Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar.

DAY 3
Shopping and Art
We begin the day in vibrant Taksim, enjoying a leisurely stroll through bustling streets lined with boutiques, bookstores, and local shops. In the afternoon, we continue to the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, exploring its inspiring collection of contemporary works in a stunning waterside setting.

DAY 4
Prince's Island & Spice Bazaar
This morning we leave the bustle of the city behind and glide across the sparkling waters of the Marmara Sea on a scenic ferry ride. As Istanbul’s skyline fades into the distance, watch its minarets and domes give way to the tranquil beauty of Büyükada—the largest and most beguiling of the Princes’ Islands, once the cherished retreat of Byzantine royalty.
We’ll circle the island by electric vehicle before lingering over a leisurely lunch at a traditional fish taverna by the water’s edge. Later, back in the city, the air fills with the heady aromas of saffron, cinnamon, and sweet pastries as we wander through the Spice Bazaar, a treasure trove of exotic spices, herbs, and time-honoured delicacies.

DAY 5
Istanbul to the wonders of Cappadocia
After breakfast, we board our flight for Cappadocia. Our exploration begins at Uçhisar Castle, the highest vantage point in the region, where sweeping panoramas reveal a dreamlike world of fairy chimneys and valleys.
At Pigeon Valley, discover the age-old dovecotes carved into soft volcanic rock. From Göreme Panoramic, take in the view of the region’s iconic terrain, and as the day softens into late afternoon, the Red Valley glows with otherworldly shades of crimson and gold. We end the day on a delightful note with a wine-tasting experience, sampling Cappadocia’s unique local vintages.

DAY 6
Underground Cities & Cappadocia's Iconic Valleys
Today we explore the wonders of Cappadocia, beginning with Özkonak Underground City, one of the region’s best-preserved subterranean settlements, where ancient tunnels and chambers reveal how communities once lived hidden beneath the earth.
From there, we continue to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, where cave churches adorned with vivid 10th-century frescoes bring early Christian history to life. Our journey then takes us to Çavuşin, an abandoned village of old Greek cave houses, before pausing for a traditional lunch in Avanos, a town famed for its pottery.
Next the iconic valleys – marvel at the whimsical rock formations of Love Valley and the surreal landscapes of Devrent Valley, finishing the day at the Three Beauties, Cappadocia’s most beloved fairy chimneys.

DAY 7
Flight to Anatalya
After breakfast, a change of scenery as we board our flight for the coastal city of Anatalya on the Mediterranean coast and famous for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters and coastal scenery.
We settle into our hotel before stepping back in time with an afternoon in the Old City, Kaleiçi. Winding lanes lead us past the harbour and timeless landmarks: Hadrian’s Gate, a triumphal arch built for a Roman emperor; the Broken Minaret, once a Roman temple turned mosque; and the ancient Hıdırlık Tower, standing sentinel where the city meets the sea.
Layer by layer, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman legacies unfold in this enchanting quarter of Antalya.

DAY 8
Cascading Waterfalls
Antalya reveals its natural wonders in a day filled with cascading waterfalls and sparkling seas. The journey begins at Düden Waterfall, where torrents plunge gracefully into the Mediterranean, framed by lush greenery and inviting paths ideal for a scenic stroll.
From there, the tranquility of Kurşunlu Waterfall awaits in the Taurus Mountains, a haven of rich flora and fauna where wooden walkways wind through nature’s calm. Later, the perspective shifts as a leisurely 45-minute boat ride carries us along Antalya’s coastline, offering breathtaking views from the water.
The day draws to a close at the secluded Kalpuzkaldıran Waterfall, a hidden gem that enchants with its peaceful atmosphere. Together, these moments weave an unforgettable tapestry of adventure, serenity, and natural beauty.

DAY 9
Istanbul
A short flight returns us to vibrant Istanbul, where the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Relax at the hotel, wander through lively neighbourhoods, or sip Turkish tea while watching the world go by – an unhurried pause to savour the city in your own way.
This evening, we gather for a memorable farewell dinner, raising a glass to new friendships, unforgettable moments, and the journey we’ve shared.

Farewell
It’s time to check in for the flight home and bid fond farewells to newfound Adventurous Ewes and travelling companions who have become firm friends. Until the next trip!
