Imagine lush forests meeting alpine peaks, tranquil lakes, emerald rivers, and villages that feel untouched by time. Explore the magic of Lake Bled with its island church, wander through the cobbled streets of Ljubljana, and savour the country’s outstanding wines and cuisine.

DAY 1

Arrival in Ljubljana

Welcome to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s charming capital – a city that feels instantly inviting. Leafy riverbanks, elegant bridges, pastel façades and lively cafés blend old-world beauty with a fresh, youthful energy. Overlooking it all is Ljubljana Castle, watching proudly from its hilltop. It’s the perfect place to begin our Slovenian adventure: gentle, picturesque, and full of character.

DAY 2

Ljubljana

This morning we explore Ljubljana on a guided walking tour through the old town, vibrant squares, riverbank promenades and iconic bridges. Your guide will share stories, legends and hidden corners that bring the city to life.

For lunch, we head up to Ljubljana Castle, either by funicular or by road, for a memorable culinary experience at a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant (own account €50pp).

The afternoon is free to enjoy at your leisure: browse boutiques, visit galleries, stroll along the river or simply relax over coffee and soak up the city’s easy-going charm.

DAY 3

Ljubljana to Bled

On our way to Bled, we stop in Radovljica, a delightful town at the foothills of the Julian Alps. With cobbled streets, artisan shops and the charming Beekeeping Museum, it’s a lovely introduction to regional culture.

We enjoy a bistro lunch at Hiša Linhart, awarded a Michelin star known for its farm to table fare. (own account €40pp).

Arrive in Bled and settle into our hotel close to the lake.

DAY 4

Bled to Vintgar Gorge

Bled feels like it stepped straight out of a storybook – emerald lake, a tiny island church, forested hills and a medieval castle perched dramatically on a clifftop. A must-try local treat: the famous kremšnita (cream cake).

We visit Vintgar Gorge for an easy, scenic walk along wooden pathways suspended above turquoise waters, waterfalls and rapids – a refreshing way to begin the day.

In the afternoon, enjoy a traditional boat ride to Bled Island.

DAY 5

Triglav National Park & Lake Bohinj

Today we venture into Triglav National Park, Slovenia’s only national park and one of its most spectacular. Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest natural lake, set in the heart of the Julian Alps, is serene and pristine. Nearby Vogel Mountain offers sweeping alpine views; you can take the cable car to the summit for breathtaking panoramas and crisp mountain air.

DAY 6

Bled to Postojna

After breakfast we make our way to Postojna, a quaint town surrounded by rolling hills and countryside charm. Nearby, Predjama Castle awaits – a dramatic fortress built directly into a sheer cliff face, complete with secret tunnels and a fascinating history.

Postojna is also home to the world-famous Postojna Cave, one of Europe’s largest show caves and a UNESCO World Heritage site, filled with awe-inspiring stalactites, stalagmites and grand underground chambers. We board the train and enter deep underground.

DAY 7

Postojna to Piran

Today we begin our coastal journey. Our first stop is Koper, Slovenia’s oldest town and largest port, where medieval architecture meets seaside charm. Next we visit Izola, a cosy fishing town with colourful houses, narrow streets and a pretty marina. A fresh seafood lunch is on the cards.

We continue to Piran, our home for the night – a delightful Adriatic town with Venetian-style buildings, red rooftops and turquoise waters on three sides. Tonight, enjoy cocktails on a rooftop terrace as the sun sets over the sea – simply stunning.

DAY 8

Piran to Pula

Today we cross into Croatia’s Istria region. Our first stop is Motovun, a hilltop medieval town famous for its truffle-rich forests and sweeping valley views. Next, we wander through Rovinj – a postcard-perfect seaside town with pastel façades, cobbled streets and a skyline reminiscent of Venice.

We end the day in Pula, known for its impressive Roman ruins, lively markets and coastal scenery.

Pula

A relaxed day on the coast. Choose a boat trip, or simply unwind by the pool.

DAY 10

Pula to Zagreb

Before leaving Pula, we tour the magnificent 1st-century Roman amphitheatre, one of the best preserved in the world.

We then travel to Zagreb for our final night. Enjoy leisurely time in the city before meeting for farewell drinks to toast new friendships and unforgettable memories.

DAY 11

Departure

It’s time to check in for the flight home and bid fond farewells to newfound Adventurous Ewes and travelling companions who have become firm friends. Until the next trip!
