Where Will Your Curiosity Take You – Vietnam or Morocco? A Tale of Two Journeys for the Soulful Traveller

There are places in this world that don’t just stay in your memory — they settle in your heart. For me, two of those places are Vietnam and Morocco. Perfect for a women’s only tour.

On the surface, they couldn’t be more different. One is green and graceful, the other bold and sunbaked. One whispers, the other sings. And yet, both have a way of gently shifting something inside you, long after the plane has landed home.

So how do you choose between them? Let me take you there for a moment…

Vietnam: A Country That Invites, Never Overwhelms

Imagine drifting across the emerald waters of Ha Long Bay, the air soft and still as limestone islands rise like ancient sentinels around your boat. The only sound is the lapping of water and the occasional call of a seabird. Come evening, you’re sipping cocktails on the deck, surrounded by scenery so serene it feels almost sacred. It’s one of those rare moments of stillness that stays with you.

A couple of days later, you find yourself wandering the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, where the scent of jasmine and grilled lemongrass chicken floats on the warm air. Time seems to pause here — in quiet temples, over steaming bowls of pho, and in the calm presence of locals who smile with their eyes.

Vietnam doesn’t clamour for your attention. It invites you to slow down, to breathe, to connect — not just with its landscapes and people, but with yourself. There’s a rhythm to this country that soothes the senses and stirs the spirit. It’s a place best discovered slowly — in sips of green tea, in barefoot steps through rice paddies, and in the kind of meaningful conversations that transcend language.

Morocco: Where Colour, Culture & Contrasts Collide

And then there’s Morocco — vibrant, earthy, alive in every sense.

Your journey from Casablanca to Marrakech covers a vast distance but the experience is worth it.  The soulful heart of Marrakech, where the souks pulse with colour and possibility. The scent of orange blossom and spices hangs in the air, mingling with the sound of artisans at work and the distant call to prayer. Around every corner, the city reveals another wonder — a courtyard garden, a centuries-old mosaic, a pot of mint tea served with pride.

In Fes, time folds in on itself. Local guides, who know every story these winding alleys hold, introduce you to a living history.

And then, quite suddenly, you’re in the stillness of the Sahara Desert. One evening you find yourself on the back of a camel, the dunes glowing gold beneath the setting sun. That evening, under a canopy of stars, you gather around a fire with your new travel companions — sharing music, laughter, and quiet awe.

Morocco stirs something deeper. It’s a land of contrast — of silence and sound, ancient traditions and vibrant modern life. It’s a place where the connection goes beyond the visual; it’s emotional, even spiritual.

So, Which Journey Is Yours?

Both Vietnam and Morocco offer more than just scenery or photo ops. They offer a feeling — of being part of something bigger, of stepping into a different rhythm, of rediscovering the joy of curiosity and connection.

If you’re longing for calm beauty, soft adventure, and a peaceful, reflective atmosphere, then Vietnam may be your perfect match.

But if you’re craving culture, colour, and the visceral energy of a place that dances to its own beat, then Morocco may be the one calling you.

Of course, if you’re like me — you might need to experience both. Some journeys change your life. These two might just do that.
